Project Description

The Center for Sociological Research (CIS) needed to modernize its digital infrastructure and reduce operational costs. We performed a complete migration from Liferay DXP to Liferay CE, maintaining all existing functionality while optimizing performance. One of the main challenges was implementing an advanced faceted search engine for its extensive catalog of sociological studies. We used Elasticsearch to efficiently index and search among thousands of documents, allowing users to filter by multiple criteria such as date, theme, methodology and study type. The redesign of the public portal significantly improved the user experience, with more intuitive navigation and a responsive design that adapts perfectly to all devices. In addition, we created a complete intranet for CIS employees with collaboration tools, document management and internal communication. The infrastructure was completely modernized using Docker for service containerization, which facilitated deployment and scalability. We implemented CI/CD pipelines with GitLab that automate the deployment process, reducing update time from weeks to minutes. The results were exceptional: more than 500% increase in indexable pages, significantly improving SEO and visibility of the study catalog in search engines.
