The official Tourism Portal of Andalusia is one of the most important tourism websites in Spain, receiving millions of annual visits. We performed an exhaustive technical audit to evaluate the current state of the portal and plan its update to Liferay 7.4. The audit included a complete analysis of the current architecture, identification of obsolete dependencies, performance evaluation and security analysis. We performed a complete simulation of the update to identify and anticipate possible incidents before the actual migration. During the evolutionary maintenance project, we implemented significant improvements in several aspects: • SEO Indexing: We optimized the URL structure, improved meta tags and implemented dynamic sitemaps that increased indexable pages by more than 250%. • Internal linking: We restructured the internal link architecture to improve navigation and SEO positioning, creating a more logical and hierarchical structure. • Performance: We optimized Apache2 configuration by implementing gzip compression, header caching and static resource optimization. We also improved ehcache usage in Liferay, configuring more efficient caching strategies that reduced load times by 40%. • Monitoring: We implemented integration with Google Search Console and Google Analytics for better tracking of performance and user behavior. The results were extraordinary: a 250% increase in conversion rate, significantly improving user experience and return on investment of the tourism portal.
