Project Description

The Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation needed to modernize its web portal to improve the management of hydrological information and facilitate citizen access to data on water resources. We performed a complete update from Liferay 7.0 to Liferay 7.3, taking advantage of performance improvements and new platform features. The update included careful migration of all content and custom developments, ensuring that no functionality was lost during the process. We performed exhaustive testing in a staging environment to guarantee system stability before deployment to production. In addition to the version update, we implemented various evolutionary improvements that significantly enhanced portal functionality: • Optimization of visualization of hydrological and meteorological data • Improvements in search and information filtering • Implementation of new features for content management • Improvements in portal accessibility and usability • Performance optimization and load times The project also included improvements in information structure, facilitating navigation and access to complex technical data in a more intuitive way for citizens and sector professionals. The results were exceptional: the portal experienced a 400% increase in organic traffic, demonstrating a significant improvement in the visibility and accessibility of hydrological information. The update also improved the Confederation's operational efficiency, facilitating content management and publication. This project consolidates our experience in Liferay updates and demonstrates our ability to manage complex institutional portals that require high availability and precision in information.
